I enjoyed today's presentations, both Michelle Douglas-Cummings' talk on Inter-Jurisdictional Support Orders and Ciara's presentation on Divorce and Ancillary Relief Orders in Ireland and Ontario. For those of you that were not able to read the piece assigned by Ciara (Jenny Burley's and Francis Regan's "Divorce in Ireland: The Fear, The Floodgates and the Reality" (2002), it can be accessed here. Also, in case you are interested in doing some further research on Inter-Jurisdictional Support Orders, here are a few links to get you started. Here you can find an electronic copy of the Inter-Jurisdictional Support Orders Act, 2002, and here is a useful document prepared by the Department of Justice, titled "Some Considerations for Practitioners in Inter-Jurisdictional Support Cases". Here you can find the text of the Hague Convention on "International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance", and here is an outline of the Convention (you can also find more documents related to the Convention here).Now, as you know, we have two very busy weeks, full of presentations, coming up. The schedule is the following:
* November 25th (Students Presentations - Part Two): Nigel, Karina, Renata, Serena, and Daniel.
* December 2nd (Students Presentations - Part Three): Emily, Susan, Marissa, Daphne, Rayhan.
Please remember that each of you must send me an article (or an excerpt of an article) that you want the class to read in preparation for your presentation. If you wish, instead of an article, you can prepare a document outlining the main points of your presentation. In any case, the materials you assign should not exceed 10 pages. You should send me this as soon as possible, but no later than on Sunday night of the week before your presentation. I will post the materials for next week's presentations here, immediately after I receive them.
